Rigdon's Birth Story - St. George UT Family Photographer

Last month I had the opportunity to do my first birth session!  It was something I had been thinking about for awhile, when I first started noticing birth photography becoming popular I wasn't sure how I felt about it, I would see photos posted on FB and think - why would anyone even want a picture like that taken of them and why in the heck are they posting them all over the internet?!  But then I would see some that were really beautiful and so precious.  I decided that it was something I'd like to try, but I would just take a more conservative approach, capturing the beauty of that precious little baby coming into their momma's arms and those tender first moments, while still keeping the Mom modest and with out sharing pictures that make people cringe.  (Just for info for anyone thinking about this, I did take photos of the baby being delivered,  I just won't be posting them, I feel like they are too private to be plastered on the internet.) So with that in mind,  I was so excited when Malinda asked me to do her baby's newborn photos a few months ago and we talked about the birth story idea and felt that we were both on the same page and it ended up working out perfectly!  This was super easy for my fist time, Malinda was induced, so I was able to just keep my day open and wait to hear from her when she was close to delivering.  I got to the hospital and we talked for just a few minutes and the nurse came in to check her and said she was ready to deliver!  We could not believe the good luck!  No waiting around for hours, I was there 5 minutes and it was time to get ready!

Meet Baby Rigdon, 7 pounds, 9 ounces of perfection.

It was an amazing experience!  I loved it! It was comfortable for both Malinda and me and could not have gone better.  It was such an honor for me to capture these first most precious moments and I loved every minute of it.  Thank you Malinda and Travis for the wonderful opportunity!

Brotherly Love - St. George UT Family Photographer

These cute faces belong to my darling friend Sam.  Her  boys are growing like weeds!  I have loved watching little Colt grow since I first photographed him when he was a chubby wee baby.  Sam has been an awesome support to me after being one of my "practice babies" when I was first learning.  You can see some of my favorite times with these darling faces  here  and  here.  I am always so grateful for awesome families who come back to me, and I love having the privildege of watching their little ones grow and capturing their precious stages.  Here are some of my favorites from our Fall session together...

I could not get enough of these 2 cute brothers together!  And I'm really loving the color and black and white.

Grandma's Got a Boyfriend! - St. George UT, Family Photographer

I was so excited for the opportunity to do this extend family session.  Meet Anita, she is my darling friend and fellow Twilight junkie, such a sweet lady!  And, after being single for some time, she has a new man in her life!  Wahoo!  It was so fun to meet Rod, who it turns out knows pretty much everybody since he taught Seminary at just about every school in Southern Utah over the years.  How fun to see them so in love and being Grandma and Grandpa together!  Not to mention all of Anita's kids are really pretty people and so she has some really beautiful Grandkids!  Even more fun when a family this big is super photogenic!

Anita & Rod - so cute!  They are officially engaged and we are excited for their big day!

This little guy was hilarious, I love his little scowls, and such a cute smile when he finally gave me one!

Thank you Anita, I loved meeting your family and getting all these darling photos!  I am so happy for you and your new love!

The Hall Family - St. George UT, Family Photographer

This gang belongs to my amazing sister in law, Crystal, and oh how I love these special faces.  I loved getting to spend some time with them with out my own kids, when I could just focus (ha!) on them.  They were great sports, especially considering it was a freezing day in December when we did this!  Here are some of my favorites...

These boys are suck a crack up!

Harrison - I really just love this kid, such a sweet, smart little guy!

Dallin - this little guy is giving Crystal a run for her money these days!  What a little stinker he has been, terrible 4's I guess.  But when I look at this face it often takes my breath away,  he is the spitting image of his big brother Todd, who passed away at age 8.  I love it.

Matthew - getting too big too fast, this kid will always have a special place in my heart.  He's a lot like my Madi, sweet & sour, watch out for the sour, but the sweet is extra sweet and I love it.

Ammon - this kiddo just turned the big 3!  Tough job being the baby of this gang! I have a feeling he'll be able to take care of himself one day.

Beautiful Miss Brooke - 13 as of yesterday!  You could not ask for a better big sister to all those crazy boys than this girl.

Brookey and Dad  - I love it!
